Lee Simpson has more than 20 years of experience as a product strategist and experience designer with a primary focus on emerging markets and technologies.

With a background in engineering, interface design, experience design, growth marketing, and consumer product strategy, Lee is familiar with the entire digital product life cycle across consumer and enterprise services. His work combines research, insight, strategy, and design. Bringing these skills together he solves complex problems to create sophisticated, highly functional products that serve millions of users.

Lee has spoken at several industry conferences, including New York Media Week, Future of Television, DSVC, and Northside Innovation Festival. He has also contributed to many trade publications, including CIO Review, AdWeek, Core77, and Communication Arts. As a guest lecturer, he has taught at Hyper Island (Sweden) and Newcastle College (UK) and produced educational courses for The Guardian Masterclasses and General Assembly.

Lee has been a mentor on multiple accelerator programs, including Ignite100 and the Capitol Records 360 Innovation Program. Throughout his 20-year career, he has worked closely with startups as an advisor to founders and leadership teams.

From 2012 to 2014, Lee was a Product Lead at The Guardian News and Media, where he led the design and global rollout of the Next Gen content management tools as part of the organization's online relaunch.

In 2014 he joined ustwo (New York) as Strategy Director (Global, Media & Entertainment) where he lead the strategic direction and delivery of the agency's work in the TV and entertainment industry. In 2017 he relocated to Los Angeles, where he developed partnerships with companies such as Netflix, Warner Bros., and NBCUniversal. During his time with ustwo, Lee led a dedicated team focused on exploring innovative products and experiences to help solve the complex business challenges facing the media and entertainment space.

Lee is currently the founder and principal at smpsn, an independent client-service practice specializing in product strategy and experience innovation.
